Northeast Data

Workers Compensation

Workers’ Compensation is a state-regulated, compulsory insurance program. Northeast Data provides employees with coverage for work-related injuries.

What to Do?

If you are injured on the job, you must report the injury to your supervisor immediately. An official notice that lists a panel of physicians approved to render medical services for work-related injuries is posted on all company bulletin boards. You must be evaluated by one of these providers after you have been injured during on the job activities.

Panel List:

Delay in notification, using a treatment provider not listed on the Panel of Physicians or failure to follow medical recommendations may result in denial of payment for medical services rendered and other Workers’ Compensation benefits.

Coverage

If you are injured on the job, you may receive medial, rehabilitation and income benefits. Generally, Workers’ Compensation covers compensable injury or illness. Compensable injuries and illnesses are only those suffered as a direct result of and while in the course and scope of employment.

Medical Expenses

Your authorized doctor bills, hospital bills, rehabilitation in some cases, physical therapy, prescriptions and necessary travel expenses are paid if incurred as a result of a compensable injury or illness. Eligible medical expenses are paid directly by Northeast Data’s Workers Compensation Insurance Carrier.

Lost Wages

After a waiting period, you are entitled to weekly benefits for a compensable injury or illness. After the waiting period, lost wage benefits are received directly from the insurance carrier.

Time sheet procedures

If you must take time from work for medical care or to undergo rehabilitation due to a compensable injury or illness, note the amount of time missed and indicate a WC (exception time) on the timesheet so that lost wage benefits may be properly coordinated between Northeast Data and the insurance carrier.

Lost Time from Work

Employees on Workers Compensation should attempt to make all appointments with doctors and physical therapists for Workers Compensation injuries and illnesses on their own time. If this is not possible, appointments should be make either in the early morning or later afternoon to avoid excess lost time from work.

When Returning to Work

Before returning to work, you must provide your supervisor with a written release from the treating physician. The physician’s release must state:

  1. Specific limitations under which an employee is returning to work
  2. No limitations at all.

If, upon returning to work, you feel you are physically unable to perform your duties, inform your supervisor so arrangements can be made for your condition to be re-evaluated.

If There is a Problem

If you think you have not received the benefits to which you are entitled or if you have questions concerning Workers Compensation, not addressed in this manual, please contact your supervisor.
